An 82-year-old man who was left seriously injured when he was attacked at a bus stop in Birmingham has died.

Allen Karam Chand was attacked on Soho Road in Handsworth at about 15:30 GMT on 14 January, but died in hospital on Sunday.

A 43-year-old man, charged with wounding, appeared before magistrates on Saturday and is due to appear before Birmingham Crown Court on 14 February, West Midlands Police said.

The force added as a result of Mr Chand's death, it was now reviewing the charge in conjunction with the Crown Prosecution Service.

A post-mortem examination is due to to take place in the coming days to establish how Mr Chand died.

His family are being supported by officers, the force says.
