Man appears in court on rape charges

A 66-year-old man has appeared in court in Dumfries charged with three counts of rape.

Robert Reid - whose general address was given as Dumfries and Galloway - appeared in private.

He was also accused of attempted rape, indecent assault with attempt to rape, as well as three other charges of indecent assault. It is understood that the charges relate to eight women.

He made no plea, was granted bail and was committed for further examination.
