Michael Storey was jailed for five years

A paedophile who told what he thought was a nine-year-old girl's mother he wanted to meet the child on a weekend so he could rape her multiple times has been jailed.

Michael Storey, 56, believed he was talking to women online who were offering their children for sex but they were actually police officers, Newcastle Crown Court heard.

Over the course of two weeks in February, he told them young girls were a "serious turn on" and he would "love" to rape them.

Storey, from Gateshead, was jailed for five years after admitting two counts of arranging the commission of a child sex offence.

Storey made contact with the profile of a woman on Snapchat who told him she had an eight-year-old niece she liked to sexually abuse, prosecutor Rachael Glover said.

Storey told her he was "minded" to girls and the "youngest ones were a serious turn on" for him, before suggesting they could both abuse the child together, the court heard.

He then asked if she "knew any pervs" in the Newcastle area and she said she would get a friend to contact him, the court heard.

Date set for abuse

A second woman claiming to be in his area then messaged Storey on Telegram to say she had a nine-year-old girl she liked to watch men rape, Ms Glover said.

Storey told her he would "love" to have sex with the girl, giving graphic details about what he wanted to do while also requesting indecent pictures of the child, the court heard.

He told her he wanted "anything utterly filthy, dirty and depraved", the court heard, but nothing with children younger than six.

Storey, who also sent the woman naked pictures of himself in an aroused state, started talking about when would be best to meet up for him to rape the girl, Ms Glover said.

He suggested a weekend as she would not have to go to school, meaning he could have sex with her multiple times, the court heard, with him telling the woman he could not wait.

A date was set for 9 March but he was arrested on 13 February.

Judge Sarah Mallet said had he gone through with his plan, Storey would have been jailed for 15 years.

Storey was also made subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and must sign the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.
