Drivers faced delays after a four-vehicle crash on a major road.
The A12 was closed southbound in Essex between J25 and J26 near Chelmsford.
National Highways reported, external about three miles (4.8km) of congestion near Marks Tey and delays "in excess of 30 minutes".
At about 09:15 BST, National Highways said, external all lanes had reopened and no delays were reported in the area.
