A man has died following a crash between a car and a lorry on a North Yorkshire road.

North Yorkshire Police said the collision between a white HGV and a grey Mini took place on the A65 at the Clapham bypass at about 11:30 BST on Tuesday.

A 55-year-old man driving the Mini died at the scene, the force said, with his family supported by staff while an investigation into the crash continued.

The route remained closed for about nine hours, police added, with officers appealing for witnesses to get in contact.
