Teenager charged with rape on Eastbourne beach

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the rape of a woman on Eastbourne beach.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with the incident which took place on 9 August close to the bandstand.
Sussex Police said the victim has been supported by specially trained officers and they are continuing to investigate.
Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to come forward.
The teenager was remanded in custody to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 12 August.
