Suspect held after man suffers serious head injury

An arrest has been made after a man sustained a serious head injury in an "altercation" in Beverley.

Humberside Police said it was called to Saturday Market at 02:10 BST on Sunday to reports the man had been assaulted.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

Witnesses reported seeing blood and discarded clothes near The Grapes pub, where a police cordon remained in place on Sunday.

Police have asked anyone with information, CCTV, mobile phone footage or dashcam footage to get in touch.
