Repair work has been completed in a town centre after a pavement started to sink.

Stretches of the High Street in Chesham were barriered off, and it was closed to vehicles while Buckinghamshire Highways investigated, external "depressions" in the road on Friday.

Buckinghamshire Council's deputy leader, Thomas Broom, said damage had been found to a drainage pipe, which had since been repaired.

The cabinet member for transport added that crews will be checking that the repair is operating properly and investigating another "pre-existing depression" on the high street.

"I would like to thank residents for their patience while these repair works are being carried out," he said.
