A man has died after he was found stabbed in a street, West Yorkshire Police has said.

The victim, named locally as 23-year-old Luqman Ishfaq, was found unconscious with stab wounds in Barlow Street, Bradford, at 22:29 BST on Monday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but died a short time later.

A police cordon has been put up in the area with around Barlow Street while "extensive" inquires are carried out, the force said.

Anne Dunn, 49, lives on Barkerend Road, near to where Mr Ishfaq was found.

"Round here you keep yourself to yourself, because there's too much going on," she told the BBC.

"I'm quite scared to be honest. I don't like going out at night because it's really bad.

"It's a bad area and it's changed a lot. There's a lot of crime going on.

"I don't feel safe around here to be honest."

Another person, who gave his name only as Moss, said: "It's ridiculous and it's very concerning. I work and I live here.

"As a parent as well, what's going on in the streets of Bradford is very concerning."

The Reverend Duncan Milwain, who has lived in the area for 18 months, said he believed the incident was out of character for the area

"It's quite a close community. I think people very much sort of, you know, keep themselves to themselves.

"When I first said where I was moving to, some people were a bit surprised and a bit sort of anxious. But I don't feel unsafe or threatened here.

"So I think what we can see is we've got is an isolated incident."

West Yorkshire Police has appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact the force.
