A ring with a secret message from one lover to another has gone on display at a city museum on Valentine's Day.
The posey ring was discovered in 2023 by a metal detectorist on land at Whittington Hall in the Lune Valley and has gone on show at Lancaster City Museum.
Lancaster City Council said posey rings may have been given at any stage of the relationship and by either partner.
A council representative said it was likely to date from between 1650 and 1750 and had an inscription reading: "Present my affection."
Councillor Nick Wilkinson said he was "delighted" the council could unveil the "centuries-old token of love and affection from Whittington on Valentine's Day".
"The museum collections preserve our heritage, helping us to understand who we are, where we have come from and what makes this area special," he said.
