A Manx Grand Prix competitor died from multiple injuries after crashing during the opening qualifying session of the 2024 event, an inquest has heard.

Louis O'Regan, from Waterford in Ireland, died in the crash in the area of Kate's Cottage on the A18 Mountain Road at about 17:05 BST on 18 August.

The incident led to the session being red flagged by the event organisers.

The 43-year-old electrical engineer, who lived in Didcot in England, made his debut at the event in 2013, finishing 12th in the Newcomers A Race.

Adjourning the inquest while investigations into the crash continue, Deputy Coroner Rebecca Cubbon passed on her condolences on to Mr O'Regan's family.
