Crash leaves woman with life-threatening injuries

An elderly woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries, following a crash which also left three teenagers seriously injured.

The woman, in her 90s, was driving a Toyota Corolla when the vehicle was involved in a collision with a Ford Fiesta, carrying three people - all male, aged 17 and 18.

The incident occurred at approximately 16:25 GMT on Wednesday 15 January, on the A590 near Lindale, in South Cumbria.

The road was closed for about eight hours, Cumbria police said.

The force is investigating the crash, and has asked any witnesses to contact them.
