'Long-stay' dog needs a new home after 800 days

The RSPCA has appealed to find a new home for a "long-stay" dog who has been at its Sheffield shelter for 800 days.
Six-year-old lurcher Nova was taken in by the charity because she didn't get along with another dog she was living with, but now faces a third Christmas without being adopted.
RSPCA Sheffield staff said more animals have been handed over to their care for financial reasons such as the high cost of veterinary treatment.
Kerry Grayson, animal care and customer services officer, said: "Nova is a little bit nervous to start with, but someone needs to give her a chance to see her other side."
She added: "Nova's a bit unsure of new people, and she's a bit reactive with other dogs as well.
"She needs a quieter home with no other animals. She's so funny, she's got this quirky side to her. She loves singing along to music. She loves to get on your chest and have a cuddle, and she's just playful as well."
The shelter added that a prospective new owner would have to spend time with Nova over several sessions to build trust.
The lurcher is muzzle-trained and capable of walking "nicely" on a lead.
