A "depraved and predatory" man who sexually abused a girl has been jailed.
Brian McCoy, of Sandfield Road in Bootle, Merseyside, admitted three counts of inappropriately touching a girl under the age of 13 and causing/inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
Det Insp Paul McVeigh of Merseyside Police said he put his victim through an "unimaginable ordeal".
The 64-year-old, who also pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements of the sex offenders register, was jailed at Liverpool Crown Court for six years.
Det Insp Paul McVeigh said: "McCoy put his victim though an unimaginable ordeal and I want to take this opportunity to commend her immense bravery.
"She has come forward and co-operated with the investigation throughout.
"His actions were depraved and predatory, taking advantage of a child and seeking out opportunities to abuse her."
He added: "I hope he reflects on his crimes while behind bars and considers the long-lasting impact they will no doubt have on the victim."
