A 13-year-old boy has been released on bail after a child was stabbed during a altercation involving several teenagers.

Essex Police were called to Collingwood Road, Witham, at about 17:05 BST on Saturday and the 13-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 14-year-old boy had an injury to his leg and was treated at the scene.

Insp Philip Jackson said: "We understand this incident has taken place on a busy day in the town centre, so we would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this or has dashcam footage from the area at the time."
