Beach made more accessible for wheelchair-users
- Published
Work to make a shingle beach more accessible for people in wheelchairs has started.
The old boardwalk at Chichester Avenue beach on Hayling Island in Hampshire is being replaced with a structure that is wider and has handrails.
It will also be made using all-weather materials to make it safer all year-round, according to Havant Borough Council.
The project is expected to take five weeks to complete.
Funding to remove and replace the old boardwalk was secured from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the authority added.
