A woman who repeatedly ignored complaints from neighbours and the council to remove waste strewn around her property has been fined more than £1,500.

Tara June Turner, 54, was sent 17 letters by Bradford Council asking her to remove the rubbish from her home in Linden Avenue and later issued with a Community Protection Notice.

The council said complaints about the waste dated back to 2017, adding that the rubbish had "significantly impacted the local community’s quality of life”.

Turner, who did not attend her trial on 11 July, was fined £1,574 and ordered to remove the waste within 21 days.

The council’s executive member for healthy people and places Sarah Ferriby said: “Bradford Council remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a clean and safe environment for all residents.

"Non-compliance with Community Protection Notices will be rigorously addressed to safeguard our communities.”
