A man has been arrested on suspicion of trying to make explosives in Guernsey, police have said.

Guernsey Police said officers were joined by specialists from the British Army and UK police for an operation at a property on the junction of La Grange and Brock Road.

Police said the building was "known to contain a number of different chemicals".

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of making or possessing explosive substances under suspicious circumstances, the force said.

Specialists from the UK helped officers with the removal of the chemicals.

The work was carried out safely and without incident, police said.

Investigations were continuing.
