Man hit by car and seriously injured on motorway
Emergency services attended a number of crashes on the M6 around Tebay on Wednesday

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by car on the M6.
The victim had exited his car on the hard shoulder of the motorway in Cumbria and was then struck by another vehicle.
He suffered major injuries to his legs and was taken to hospital in Preston for treatment.
It was one of a number of crashes on the motorway around Tebay on Wednesday. A downpour of hailstones in the area made driving conditions poor and contributed to the chaos.
The crash involving the injured man happened at about 20:30GMT on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: "The most serious of the collisions has involved someone who had got out of their car on the hard shoulder and was struck by another vehicle.
"He was taken to Preston Hospital was serious injuries to both of his legs."

The force said multiple crashes took place on the M6 northbound and southbound but only one resulted in serious injuries.
The road was closed between junction 36 (Kendal) and junction 38 (Tebay) following the crash and cars were trapped on the road while emergency services responded.
Traffic began moving again at around 01:30GMT on Thursday and National Highways confirmed the road had since fully reopened.
