Four people, including two teenagers, have been arrested after a man trying to stop a group of suspected thieves was run over by a car.

Police were called to Deepdale Retail Park in Preston, Lancashire, at about 13:20 BST on Monday following reports that two men and a woman had stolen some £1,000 worth of stock from Sports Direct.

The group then fled in a grey Vauxhall Astra which was parked on Blackpool Road, said Lancashire Police, knocking down a man who tried to stop them.

He was left with suspected broken ribs and cuts to his head and back.

Four people, all from Leeds, have been arrested.

A 37-year-old woman is being questioned on suspicion of assault, theft and driving without insurance. A 20-year-old man, and a girl and boy - both 17 - are being questioned on suspicion of assault and theft.

Police want to speak to any witnesses or those with dashcam footage or CCTV.
