Hospital entrance and drop-off shut for revamp
- Published
A section of a hospital site has been closed as part of redevelopment plans.
The north entrance at Queen Alexandra (QA) Hospital in Portsmouth, Hampshire, will be shut until early 2025 while the area is renovated.
Proposals for the site include a coffee shop and clinical research space.
Patients and visitors should instead use the hospital's main entrance, open 24 hours a day, the hospital's trust said.
Alternatively, people can use the east entrance, open from 07:45 - 21:00, or a temporary entrance via the B-level haematology and oncology unit.
While work is carried out, the drop-off area at the north entrance will also be unavailable.
The north car park will be unaffected by the closure.
The changes are part of plans to improve patient experience and access at QA, external, according to Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.
Accessible Changing Places facilities and a new food store have already opened in the hospital's main entrance.
