Fields on the edge of Littlethorpe could be turned into housing

A fresh application to build homes on land near a Leicestershire railway station has been submitted.

Developers want to build 155 houses off Oak Road in Littlethorpe, close to Narborough Railway Station.

A previous application by Gladman Developments for the site, to build 108 homes, was refused by Blaby District Council in July 2019.

A new road and cycle path would be created, connecting the development to Oak Road, said the Local Democracy Reporting Service, while pedestrian access would be created to the estate from Chestnut Close and Beechwood Road.

The latest scheme would include 39 “affordable” houses, as well as public open spaces, footpaths, play areas and landscaped green areas.

A consultation carried out by Gladman Developments before the latest application found concerns about the development’s impact on the nearby road network and schools and services, flooding at the site, and how the development would affect wildlife.

Blaby council is consulting on the application until July 29.
