Police officer sacked for sharing crash pictures

A police officer has been dismissed for sharing pictures of vehicle crashes without "any legitimate policing purpose".
A hearing found Essex Police officer PC Tom Currie committed gross misconduct by sharing the pictures of vehicles from his personal phone.
He was found to have breached standards of professional behaviour relating to confidentiality, honesty and integrity, discreditable conduct and orders and instructions.
A force spokesperson said PC Currie shared details of a crash involving his former partner and had "unprofessionally" said he would have taken satisfaction in prosecuting them for personal reasons.
Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington said the force used data confidentially and professionally to reduce crime,
He said: "The actions of PC Currie undermine that work and that is why there is no place for him in policing.
“When officers begin training with us, they are taught about the importance of confidentiality, and it’s expected that they only use this information in the course of their duty.
"PC Currie’s actions fell well below what we expect of our officers and I can assure the public that we will always take robust action on occasions where our professional standards have been deliberately breached."
