Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was apparently stabbed in a Kent village.

Officers were called to a report of a disturbance in The Street, Boughton-under- Blean, at 22:39 GMT on Wednesday.

Kent Police said a man in his 30s was found with injuries consistent with a stabbing and was pronounced dead near the scene.

Six men, aged between 33 and 43, have been arrested in connection with the incident, police say.

The road in the centre of the village is still closed as officers continue making inquiries.

Police said South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended the incident, near Faversham.

The force are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information, CCTV or dashcam footage to call them or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

Boughton-under-Blean and Dunkirk Primary School's Facebook page said the school was open but that there was no pedestrian or car access from The Street.

The school advised using Bull Lane to access the village hall car park, saying The Street is closed completely between Arthur Kennedy Close and the bottom of School Lane.
