The bodies of a man and a woman have been found inside a house in Staffordshire, police said.

A murder investigation was launched after the discovery at the home on Alpine Drive in Hednesford, near Cannock, at about 12:30 BST on Tuesday.

Their families were being supported by specialist officers and a cordon was set up in the area, Staffordshire Police said.

“We’d like to ask people not to speculate whilst we do this,” a force spokesperson added.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said two paramedics found the man and woman after it received reports of concern for their welfare.

"Sadly, it was immediately obvious that nothing could be done to save them and ambulance staff immediately alerted Staffordshire Police," a spokesperson added.
