Care home manager wins world bodybuilding title

A care home manager, who fitted in work out sessions in the early hours of the morning, has been crowned a world champion bodybuilder.

Emily Carrasquillo, 38, from Norwich, Norfolk, was named Miss Universe Figure 2023 in the Miss Shape 163cm-plus category.

The competition, ran by the World Amateur Body Building Association, external, was held in Spain.

Ms Carrasquillo described the win as "incredible" and said she "can't really believe it".

The Mr/Miss Universe competition took place in Tarragona, near Barcelona

Ms Carrasquillo, who manages the Laurel Lodge care home in Ipswich Road, Norwich, said she first started body building seven years ago.

She won a place at Mr/Miss Universe 2023 after she won a national competition in August.

At the world competition, she performed her routine wearing a jewel-encrusted bikini with her care home's logo on it.

"Obviously, there has been lots of hard work," she added.

"I start training at 3:30 and then go straight to work at Laurel Lodge care home.

"To be crowned Miss Universe is just amazing."
