A French navigation buoy which drifted into Jersey waters has been recovered by the coastguard.

The buoy La Jument des Héaux was spotted near Portelet Common on 12 September after it had been reported missing from its station three days earlier.

Jersey Coastguard said the buoy was safely recovered on Tuesday by its Marine Operations Team after weather conditions and tides became favourable.

"We're now in touch with our French maritime colleagues to arrange for the buoy's safe return home," a coastguard spokesperson said.
