A man has appeared in court charged with threatening to kill the Labour MP for Lancaster and Wyre Cat Smith.

Khaldoun Jayousi, from Lancaster, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday to face one count of making threats to kill.

The 68-year-old pleaded not guilty and was given unconditional bail.

His case was sent to Preston Crown Court where he will appear for a pre-trial hearing on 5 January.
