A woman has issued a desperate plea to recover her father's vintage scooter which was reported stolen hours after he attended the Brighton Mod Weekender.

Victoria Everitt said her father had joined hundreds of bikers for the ride-out from Brighton to Beachy Head - and back - on Sunday.

But he was left stranded and "heartbroken" she said, when his cream 1963 Lambretta was stolen from outside a property in Dyke Road, Brighton.

Sussex Police said the scooter was reported to have its chain cut and was wheeled away in the direction of Buckingham Road just after midnight on Monday.

Ms Everitt said she was "desperately bidding" to help recover the scooter, which her father "hand restored over a period of four years".

The theft "left him stranded", she said "meaning my mother had to drive down at 05:00 BST to collect him".

Sussex Police have asked witnesses with information or anyone with relevant footage to get in touch.
