Roof collapses on house as crews tackle fire

Firefighters on the Isle of Wight have worked through the night to tackle a fire at a two-storey house.

The blaze took hold at the property in Monkton Street, Ryde, on Sunday at about 19:15 GMT.

Crews from across the island and several water carriers were called out to the fire which caused the roof to collapse.

The fire service said police remain on guard at the building ahead of a joint investigation.
