Four men deny arson after fire destroys cars

Four men from Grimsby have denied starting a fire that destroyed five vehicles in the town.

Police were called to reports of a suspected arson attack on Barmouth Drive at about 00:40 on 14 October.

During a hearing at Grimsby Crown Court, the men pleaded not guilty to arson with intent to endanger life. They are David Maddison, 37, of Beeson Street; Jason Gladding, 35, of Columbus Way; Gary Mills, 41, of Beeson Street, and Matthew Somerfield, 39, of no fixed abode.

Mr Maddison, Mr Gladding and Mr Somerfield remain in custody, with Mr Mills on conditional bail. A trial date has been set for 13 April 2026.
