Police have appealed for witnesses following an incident where a motor vehicle was stolen by people impersonating police officers.
Thames Valley Police posted about the incident on its Facebook page, saying that it took place on the M40 southbound in Oxfordshire between Junction 8 and Junction 7 between 17:00 - 18:00 BST on 20 August.
The force said the victim had been indicated to stop by an unmarked vehicle using blue lights while driving towards London.
Two suspects wearing items that resembled police uniforms entered the vehicle and made off with it, leaving the victim on the hard shoulder.
Police described the suspects' vehicle as an older model white Renault Megane estate which displayed police-style blue light instruments in the grill.
It said the victim had not been able to identify any registration.
They had stopped on the hard shoulder when the two individuals approached them.
Part of the impersonators' attire was a cap and a protective vest.
The force appealed to anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch.
It advised anyone who believed they were approached by individuals impersonating a police officer to remain inside their vehicle and contact the police immediately.
