Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car on an A-road.

A collision between a pedestrian and a grey Range Rover occurred on the A303 between Cartgate and Podimore, Somerset, at about 19:10 GMT on Saturday.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with injuries that are potentially life-changing, but not life-threatening, police said. No one else was injured.

The road was closed while police and ambulance staff attended and reopened at 21:45. Witnesses or those with dashcam footage have been asked to contact police.
