Artists are being invited to help create a trail of murals around Shropshire's county town.

The trail is part of work by Shrewsbury's Business Improvement District (BID) to improve walking and cycling routes in the town centre in 2025.

The murals will be painted on to street furniture such as bollards and signal boxes under the theme of "myths, legends, and folk tales of Shropshire".

Artists have until 6 January to apply.

The project has been funded by money from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

"The initiative aims to improve the overall appeal of walking and cycling in the town by creating a more vibrant and visually appealing environment," said Stephanie Mansell-Jones, from the BID.

"People may remember a few years ago when murals were first created on phone cabinets in the town centre, which still provoke a positive reaction when visitors see them now."

The BID aims to have the murals in place by spring 2025.
