Work to create a new special school on the site of a vacant school has started.

The former Warfield CE Primary School is being partially demolished for a new building for the Hawthorn Academy.

The academy is currently based at a temporary site and welcomed its first pupils in September.

Funded by Bracknell Forest Council, the new building will have a two-storey teaching block for 50 children aged from 11 to 16, and is due to be handed over to the Propeller Trust in spring 2027.

It will include seven classrooms and four flexible specialist classrooms for art, design technology, food technology and science.
