The Attorney General has been asked to decide whether or not any action should be taken against a juror after a trial collapsed.
The male juror, who cannot be named, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday, where Judge Jeremy Richardson KC, told him he was referring the case to Lord Hermer - the government's chief legal advisor - to investigate.
The trial in question involved serious sexual allegations and had to be abandoned in its fifth week, although further details about the case cannot be reported.
The court heard there would be a retrial in that case.
