Police say a fire at an industrial estate in Glasgow was started deliberately.

The blaze broke out at a single-storey commercial building on Stanley Street at about 06:45 on Thursday.

Smoke from the Kinning Park storage unit was sent billowing across the M8 motorway at rush hour.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) sent nine appliances and two high-reach vehicles to extinguish the fire. No injuries have been reported.

Police stand by a cordoned off road with a police car behind them. Lots of grey smoke billows in the distance and fire crews can be seen further down the road by fire engines.

Roads in the area were cordoned off by police while fire crews tackled the flames, but they have since reopened.

Residents were advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke.

Det Insp Lesley-Ann McGee said: "Our inquiries remain ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen something to get in touch, external."
