A second man has appeared in court accused of murder in connection with a fatal house fire.

Daniel Tatters, of Basford, Stoke-on-Trent, appeared via video link at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Tuesday charged with murder, four counts of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

He was charged following the death of Akashdeep Singh after a fire at a house on Plascom Road in East Park, Wolverhampton, on 25 June.

Mr Singh's brother suffered a fractured back when he fell out of an upstairs window during the blaze, while their mother remains in intensive care in hospital.

Two other family members were also injured as a result of the incident.

Tatters, wearing a grey jumper and blue jeans, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth during the 15-minute court hearing.

The 25-year-old was remanded in custody and will next appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 11 October alongside co-defendant Dale Francis, 36, of Clarke Street, Stoke-on-Trent.
