A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after another man was stabbed in Cambridge.

Cambridgeshire Police officers were called to Nicholson Way at about 12:00 BST on 2 October by an ambulance crew treating a 52-year-old man. He remains critically ill but in a stable condition in hospital.

A 24-year-old man, from Cambridge, was arrested a day later and has appeared at Cambridge Magistrates' Court.

He was also charged with supplying crack cocaine, supplying heroin and possessing an offensive weapon. He was remanded into custody and will appear at Cambridge Crown Court on 4 November.

Another 24-year-old man from the city, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, theft of a motor vehicle and being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, has been bailed until 3 January.
