A Day of the Dead costume designed by a young boy has been selected to be made into an outfit to be worn by Halloween revellers.

Etienne, 11, entered a competition with a major retailer to have his "Day of the Dead Musician" design made into a costume.

His design features a skulled creature wearing a red and blue outfit holding an electric guitar and will be sold by Tesco.

Etienne, from Warwick, said he wanted to design something that appeals to younger children who want to be "rock stars and pop stars".

The school boy said he had the colours of the famous Spiderman at the back of his mind when he was designing the colourful figure.

"My costume is a Day of the Dead inspired musician with a guitar so I thought a lot of younger kids wanted to be pop stars and rock stars so I decided they could be that for Halloween but with a spooky twist," he said.

"Also I've played electric guitar in a band so I thought it's be good to include that as well."

Emma Williams, lead manager at Tesco Arena Park in Coventry, said she thought the design was "amazing" and that "all the kids are loving the costumes".

Etienne said he is going to celebrate the achievement by having a Halloween party.

"I was pretty shocked that I got the chance to do this because I entered it with a really cool idea, I think, but I wasn't I sort of wasn't expecting to win it," he said.
