Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was found injured in a tent in the woods.
Police were called to woodland near The Weal, in Weston, Bath, shortly after 03:00 BST following reports of a man shouting in pain.
Officers found a man in a tent with "significant head injuries", who was taken to hospital. His injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening.
Avon and Somerset Police said three men in their 30s had been arrested, adding that all four people were believed to be known to one another. One man remains in custody, while the two others have been released on conditional bail.
Neighbourhood Ch Insp Scott Hill said there would be an increased police presence in the area as further enquiries are carried out.
"We don't believe there is any wider risk to the public as the individuals involved are understood to be known to one another," he added.
"Uniformed neighbourhood officers will be in the area today, supporting the investigation, so if you have any concerns, do please speak with them."
Police said the victim's next of kin had been made aware.
Anyone with any information, including CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage which could help, has been asked to call the police.
