The store in Bradford has to remain shut for three months after a court approved a closure order

A shop in Bradford has been ordered to close for three months after "illegal vapes and cannabis" were discovered, Bradford Council said.

Allerton Mini Market and Allerton Off Licence, on Saffron Drive, Allerton, was visited during a joint operation by police, Trading Standards, the council and the fire service in late October.

Illegal items were seized from the premises, the local authority said, with a man arrested and later released on police bail.

The visit led to Bradford Council applying for a property closure order, with the order later granted at Kirklees Magistrates' Court.

The store's licence to sell alcohol is also to be reviewed following a request by West Yorkshire Police on the grounds of public safety and the prevention of crime and disorder, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

Alison Lowe, deputy mayor for policing and crime for West Yorkshire, said: "This closure sends a message that illegal activity and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated."

Kamran Hussain, the council's portfolio holder for neighbourhoods and community safety, said the operation displayed the benefits of "partnership working".

"Anyone involved will be dealt with by the appropriate organisation," he said.
