A motorway crash led to lengthy delays for thousands of rush-hour motorists, with queues stretching back eight miles.
National Highways Yorkshire said a collision resulted in the closure of lanes two and three of the eastbound M62 between Junction 22 for Denshaw and Junction 23 for Huddersfield.
While the motorway has now fully reopened, delays of up to 90 minutes remained on the opposite carriageway heading towards Greater Manchester, said National Highways Yorkshire.
Congestion later eased and traffic conditions returned to normal.
