Firefighters tackling a fire at a warehouse urged people to keep their windows and doors closed.

About 35 firefighters were sent to the building on West Quay Road in Poole, Dorset, after being called shortly after 11:20 BST.

The building was described as "well alight", with a large smoke plume seen near the town's Twin Sails Bridge.

At 14:30, Dorset fire service said its response had been scaled back but there was still a lot of traffic congestion around Poole Quay and people should avoid the area.

Hugh Lambert, who owns the nearby rum and vodka distillery, Shanty Spirit, told BBC Radio Solent: "It was an enormous fire, it looked like a raging Bunsen burner with an asbestos roof on the top."

He said he felt a bit nervous for his business watching the blaze re-igniting as the fire service attempted to put it out.
