Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a motorcyclist hit two pedestrians in Leicester city centre and left the scene.

Leicestershire Police set up a cordon after the pedestrians were hit at Burleys Way roundabout on the Belgrave Gate side at 13:15 BST on Thursday.

A woman, in her 50s, was seriously hurt but has since been discharged from hospital, while a man, in his 40s, had minor injuries.

Police said a black Honda motorcycle had been seized, but the rider fled on foot and no arrests had been made.

Detectives said they would like to speak to anyone who saw the Honda motorbike being ridden in the area of Belgrave Road, St Matthews Way and Burleys Flyover in the time leading up to the collision.

The road closure caused disruption to traffic in the area for several hours but was reopened at 18:40.
