Construction industry review launched in Jersey
- Published
A review of the construction industry in Jersey will look at whether the market is "working in the interests of consumers", the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority (JCRA) says.
The review will start in September and is expected to finish by the end of 2025.
The authority said it had been tasked with finding out whether there were any competition issues within the sector.
Construction represents nearly 8% of the Jersey economy, with more than 10% of the island’s workforce linked to the industry, the JCRA said.
Tim Ringsdore, JCRA chief, said: “This review is being launched in the context of both significant upcoming construction projects and recent changes in the market structure.
"Given the significance of construction to the economy it is important we know whether there are any competition issues to consider and whether the market is working in the interests of Jersey’s consumers."
He said there would be an opportunity for consumers and businesses to provide feedback for the review.
