Shrewsbury Half Marathon and Metric Half Marathon are due to take place on Sunday.

Both routes start and finish at the West Mid Showground and will require more than 30 road closures or partial road closures.

The half marathon is 13.1 miles long and is due to start at 08:30 BST, while the 13km (8.1 mile) Metric Half Marathon is due to start at 08:55 BST.

The routes include Shrewsbury's Welsh and English Bridges, Kingsland, Porthill, Coleham, The Quarry and Frankwell.

The organisers said the shorter Metric Half Marathon, which was introduced last year, was aimed at people who had run a 10km race but who were "not quite ready" for the half marathon distance.

It was also aimed at people looking for a "shorter, faster race challenge".

Runners taking part must be at least 17 years old and entry for both races is closed.

All runners get a souvenir T-shirt and medal and are offered either a "finisher" T-shirt or the option of having a tree planted.

There will be temporary road closures along the route for "a short duration while runners pass", including High Street and The Quarry in the town centre, Victoria Avenue, Town Walls, Smithfield Road and Gravel Hill Lane.

A full list of road closures can be found here, external.
