A woman and an eight-year-old boy have been left seriously injured after being hit by a car in Leeds.
The woman, 41, and child were struck by a red Renault Kadjar on the outbound carriageway of the A64 York Road, near Walford Avenue, at about 07:55 GMT on Friday and were taken to hospital for their injuries to be treated, police said.
A 71-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink-driving, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.
The A64 was closed eastbound from Quarry House to the junction with Torre Road while emergency services were at the scene, with the road reopening at about 09:30 GMT.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who had footage of what happened, was asked to contact police.
