British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for witnesses after a body was found on train tracks.

The force was called to the line near the Port of Dover at 01:45 BST on Friday.

Paramedics also attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The BTP added that inquiries are ongoing and they want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything or has information.

The line between Dover Priory and Folkestone Central was closed for the majority of Friday morning while the police investigated.

Southeastern said that no trains could run in either direction between the two stations at 03:26 BST.

It arranged buses to replace trains, with the first ones departing at 05:15 BST.

Some trains between Ashford and Ramsgate were diverted via Canterbury West, while others terminated at Folkestone Central.

The line reopened just before 11:00 BST and disruption had ended by 13:40 BST.
