A fire has spread over three properties in Hassocks, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS) says.

The service said they were first alerted just after 14:00 GMT to the blaze in Brighton Road, Hassocks.

Six fire engines, an aerial ladder platform and a control support unit were at the scene at the height of the blaze.

No injuries have been reported and one dog was rescued from the scene, WSFRS added.

Residents are being advised to avoid the area if possible and also to keep all doors and windows closed.

A road closure is in place between Stonepound Crossroads and Clayton Tunnel and this is expected to be in place "for some time", the fire service said.
